Demolition of the old building was completed in January. Ground works on the new building started last Monday.
This will be the third commercial office building owner James Caldwell has built in the CBD. And like the previous building in Berry Street he plans to use as many local contractors as possible.
“We will be using almost 100 local contractors. I’m committed to Nowra and if you’re committed you’ve got to give locals a fair go,” he said.
“I was really happy with the last building and that was nearly all done by local tradespeople.”
The new building will face North Street with parking at the rear for 26 cars.
“The building will be similar in appearance to 59 Berry Street, but we’re not doing the flyaway roof. We are however trying to get as much natural light into the building as possible.
“We’re providing a more than up to date building that meets all the new environmental standards and has provisions for the latest technology.”
