COME and grab a free sausage sizzle and learn more about the
local beach nesting shorebirds on Friday, January 17.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is running a free
event to talk to beachgoers, dog walkers, locals and visitors about the amazing,
endangered little terns.
These birds are hatching out tiny fluffy chicks right now on
the sandbar at Lake Wollumboola.
From 8am at the foreshore reserve at the end of Lake Circuit
in Culburra Beach the NPWS shorebird recovery co-ordinator will be serving sausage
sizzles and speaking to everyone about the local shorebirds.
There will also be free dog leashes and doggie treats, plenty
of information about the South Coast shorebird recovery program and the local
little terns plus some of their eggs on display.
From 10.30am there will be free children’s activities with
bag painting, colouring in and games.
Everyone is welcome to come along and learn more about the
beach nesting birds and have all their questions answered.
