The two sides were neck and neck in a very intense encounter and found themselves all square at 12-all with 10 minutes remaining.
The Gorillas took the upper-hand when they slotted a field goal inside the last 10 minutes, but the Lions then came up with a one-pointer of their own to take the game into golden point.
In extra time, it was Lions lock forward Brad Davidson who struck the killer blow, with his field goal securing the premiership for his side.
The same two sides met in the reserve grade final earlier on, but it was the Gorillas who triumphed on that occasion 18-10.
It was a disappointing day for local teams, with the Berry Magpies going down to Kiama 26-10 in the under 18s grand final, while the Nowra-Bomaderry Jets women’s league tag team were also defeated by the Knights in their decider.
