Doctor Harry Cooper and his film crew travelled to the Nowra Showground last Thursday to spend some time getting to know a little more about the growing sport designed to introduce kids to the fast paced world of harness racing.
During the full day of filming Dr Harry and his crew filmed the tiny horses in action and conducted one-on-one interviews with the junior drivers.
The segment, which will be aired on television after Easter, was the brainchild of Shoalhaven Mini Trots secretary, Narelle Drury, who contacted the network following the successful state mini trot championships held in Nowra last year.
Dr Harry said he jumped at the chance to cover such a unique sport.
“So many people approach us about dogs stories ... but we try to find as many different animals as we can, and horse stories are so interesting,” he said.
“Originally my crew said that only 1 per cent of people owned horses so it might not be worth it.
“But I said, ‘Maybe only 1 per cent own them, but 99 per cent of people love them’.”
