The cup over 1600m was the feature event of the Kinghorn Ford Girls’ Day Out, which drew large crowds to the Archer.
The past eight months has proven a proverbial nightmare for Price and the owners of Gunna Happen.
The eight-year-old gelding suffers from an equine rarity - an over active adrenal gland thus producing excessive levels of testosterone.
Last year stewards barred the gelding from racing and disqualified him from two races he won - Goulburn May 10 and Randwick, June 14.
After several expensive appeals and 26 swabs, the gelding was finally cleared to race and now from its second run back is in the winner’s list again taking out the Nowra Cup.
The win was just the tonic for Price who has also been in the wars laid up with a fractured neck and back after a recent track work accident.
Apprentice Sam Clipperton rode the gelding to the cup win a length ahead of Strumming for Gerald Ryan, ridden by Josh Adams, while Jon Grisedale was a short half head away in third on Beaveroo for trainer Stephen Schofield.
Gunna Happen paid $9 the win and $2.60 the place.
The other feature event on the eight race program was the Kinghorn Ford Belle of the South, a Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1200m which was won by the Kurt Goldman trained Arms Length ridden by Mitchell Bell.
