Wednesday, January 20. The green keepers had the green running at a high to medium pace.
Rink 8 opened with the Triples game where Graham Mills (welcome to the Green), TJ McCormack and Harry (1 shot) Pearce showed sparkling form to win by 24 shots to 18.
Rink 9 in the other Triples game, Marty Forde (welcome back), Susan Xu and Patricia Leach played superb bowls to slaughter their opposition by 27 to 14 shots.
Rink 10 in our first Pairs game, Roy Cartledge and Ray Solway had to pull out all their skills to win by 24 shots to 18.
Rink 11 There was blood on the green and up the scoreboard as Gary Tearle and Jim Jamieson put their opponents to the sword by 24 to 10 shots.
Rink 12 this witnessed the game of the week with John O’Dell and John Edwards getting away to a flying start being 4/0 after 2. With some bonza bowls from both teams, Mick Edwards and Paul Goddard wrestled a tie of 8 each on the 9th. Again they were all level at 9 each at the 11th. A fortuitous four and a scintillating six saw Mick and Paul come from behind to be 2 up on the 16th. With nothing but guts, the two Js evened the score on the 17th at 19-all. What a battle! A fabulous four had everyone on their feet as Mick and Paul pulled into the lead at 24 to 19. The writing was on the wall as after the penultimate end it was 24 to 20. Even Houdini couldn’t escape this one and a 1 on the last end gave a deserved game to Mick Edwards and Paul Goddard by 25 shots to 20. Congratulations.
Rink 13 Allan Furniss and Alessandro Lattanzio played marvellous bowls to decimate their opposition by 23 to 12 shots
