Bomaderry's Tuesday Social was very well attended with the Triples combination of Ron Young, Rae Martin & Teeny Fitzgerald taking out first place, Garry Gilligan & Gerry Webster were in second and Joe B & Noel Duff placed third. Hugo & Walter had the first spin of the wheel only to miss as did Peter Neilson & Greg Newton. On Thursday the elevated was brought into play going east/west and while the green played very well the strong easterly made conditions extremely difficult. Peter Drinkwater & Kim Rudd took out first prize, second went to Daron Leary & Pene Macdonald with third to Walter Lopez & Paul Judd. Paul then tried his hand at spinning the wheel and to the delight of the bowlers he managed a wrong bias costing his rink of Joe B, Steve Helson & Walter Lopez a $1. On Saturday the Social was won by JJ Martin & Ken Smart, second was Kim Rudd & Teeny Fitzgerald and third went to Greg Newton & Peter Neilsen.
The first round of the Major Singles commenced on Saturday with some very tight games contested: Greg Salway 31/24 over Chris Rae, Eric Lane 31/23 over Allan Hiscox, Mark Abbott went shot for shot with Ron Young to win 31/28, Harry Griffith 31/21 over Pepe Jakus, Daniel Hiscox 31/7 over Greg Tatam, while Geoff Swan & Steve Helson also went shot for shot with Geoff getting up 31/29.
The second round of the Singles set down for Sunday was cancelled due to the extreme heat. The Australia day Triples is scheduled for Tuesday and with District events commencing on Saturday, there will be adjustments to the Major Singles over the weekend. Mixed Pairs will commence on Friday evening.
