THE popular Tech Savvy Seniors program has been extended to include Bega and Bermagui libraries. Classes run in both libraries from July to September. “Tech Savvy Seniors is changing seniors’ lives – from how they shop and get information to how they connect with family and friends,” Member for Bega Andrew Constance said. “I encourage seniors to get involved and register so they can learn how to become tech savvy.  “We want to make sure that no-one is left behind because everyone, no matter where they live, should have an opportunity to participate in the digital world.” Acting Telstra Country Wide area general manager for Southern NSW and ACT Larissa Redford said the community hub of a local library provided an ideal environment for the workshops to take place where seniors can explore and connect with technology at their own pace.    “During the training seniors will learn practical and useful ways to make the most of the digital world while remaining safe online,” she said. “The course covers topics such as setting up email, going online shopping, using internet banking and an introduction to social media.”  To find out more about the Tech Savvy Seniors program visit www.telstra.com/seniors  or to book a spot in a local course contact Bega Valley Shire Library on 6499 2127 or Bermagui Library on 6499 2411.  ALL sessions at Bega library from 1-3pm each Tuesday July 8: Internet 1 basics; Assumes basic operation of computers; Beginner July 15: Internet 2 Tools and Tips; Assumes basic operation of computers; Beginner July 29: Email 1 @ Bega Library; Assumes basic operation of computers; Beginner August 5: Intro to Cyber safety; Assumes basic operation of computers; Beginner Aug 12: Online Shopping and Banking 1; Assumes basic operation of computers August 19: Family History with Ancestry.com; Assumes some experience with computers; Intermediate August 26: Social Media 1 – introduction; Assumes basic operation of computers; Beginner September 2: iPads 1 – introduction; Assumes no experience with iPads; Beginner ALL classes run from 10.30am to 12.30 each session, on Thursday's.
