The footpath on the southern foreshore approaching Nowra Bridge from Scenic Drive will be closed from next week for up to two years as part of construction of the new Nowra Bridge.

Transport for NSW Regional Director Southern Jo Parrott said the temporary closure was essential for community safety.
"This measure will eliminate dangers to the public associated with bridge construction on the southern foreshore," Ms Parrott said.
"There will be a large work area at this location which will involve a large number of daily truck movements, crawler-crane movements, and the movement of heavy bridge segments across the Shoalhaven River."
Path users will be diverted from the southern foreshore to Scenic Drive as of Monday, June 1, with a temporary footpath connecting Scenic Drive to Bridge Road and the Princes Highway.
To maintain pedestrian access to the foreshore, temporary stairs will be installed between the bridge work zone and existing northbound bridge.
Cyclists and the mobility-impaired will be able to cross the Princes Highway at Bridge Road and use the existing pathway north of Pleasant Way.
The cul-de-sac at the eastern end of Scenic Drive will also be closed to all traffic except project construction vehicles.

Work to complete the temporary path and stairs is being carried out this week between 7am and 6pm weekdays and 8am and 1pm on Saturday, weather permitting.
There may be some work required at night in some locations to reduce impacts on traffic flow.
Nearby residents and the community will be notified in advance of this work.
