While many businesses that rely on tourism in the South Coast have hopes for an increase in trade, after devastating losses during the summer bushfires and the COVID-19 lockdown, some residents are not so sure about welcoming travellers into the area.
A survey of 1200 people by research group Newgate Australia claims 53 per cent of people think COVID-19 restrictions are being relaxed at an appropriate rate, while 31 per cent believe the pace is too fast and 15 per cent feel it is too slow.

Newgate Australia is a market research and communications company, and did not provide any information about how survey participants were selected, or whether they were representative of all sections of Australian society.
Readers responded with mixed feelings to the changes online.
Many were supportive of the move, and were excited for the possibility of travelling to visit family and friends, as well as the potential for an economic boost to the area.
Others were not so sure, with concerns centred around uncertainty about whether colder weather would result in increased virus transmission.
