In October 2019, an investigation started following reports a woman had been sexually assaulted by a man who was known to her.
It is understood the man, who is a former senior constable attached to Southern Region, had served in the South Coast Police District, before resigning in February this year.
About 9.45am on Tuesday, May 19, the 42-year-old man was charged with sexual assault and sexual touching.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at the Nowra Local Court on Monday, July 20.
