Shoalhaven resident Andrew Hutchinson took to social media to organise opposition to a proposal for four-wheel-drives to be allowed on Seven Mile Beach.

He has photographed all 100 beaches in the region for a Shoalhaven tourism campaign, and says Seven Mile is unique.

"Sections of Seven Mile are free of any evidence of the modern world - you can enjoy complete peace and quiet," he said.

"In my wildest dreams, I can't imagine anything worse than [up to] 20 four-wheel-drives on that part of the beach, other than concreting it."

He said, apart from his love of the unspoilt nature of the beach, there were several logistical reasons four-wheel-drive access shouldn't be allowed.

He said access would likely require a new track be installed, and that the beach was often too narrow to accommodate vehicles.

"The beach has changed rapidly in the 14 years I've been here," he said.

"During high tides the water laps against the dune foreshore in some places. They's have to drive on the dunes, or get bogged.

"Wildlife on Fraser Island has halved in the 30 years since four-wheel-drives have been allowed, it's been a disaster for them."

Mr Hutchinson's facebook page, 'No to 4WD Vehicles on Seven Mile Beach', has garnered 162 likes since he started it on November 14, in response to a South Coast Register article on the issue.

He said he wanted local councillors and MPs to know not all residents were in favour of the idea.

He encouraged other opponents of the idea to contact their local councillors, state and federal MPs.
