A Callala Bay man charged with raping a nine-year-old girl and sexually touching a different 10-year-old girl has been refused bail.

The 26-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, has not entered any pleas to charges of intentionally sexual touching a child over 10 and under 16 and sexual intercourse with a child under 10.
In charges brought by the Illawarra Child Abuse Unit, court papers said the alleged rape of the nine-year-old happened at Callala Bay between March 2014 and March 2015, when he was aged 21 or 22.
The alleged sexual touching incident with a 10-year-old girl happened at Callala Bay between November 7-8 this year.
Bail was not applied for which was formally refused by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming.
The matters will return to court in January next year.
