The 71-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been found guilty on six counts of having sexual intercourse with a person aged 14-16, two counts of indecent assault of a person under 16 and failing to comply with his reporting obligations in Sydney's Downing Centre District Court.
A number of other charges for similar offences were also taken into account in his sentencing.
The offences stem from the man's sexual relationship with a then 15-year-old boy January 31 and March 30, 2017.
A suppression order has been placed over the man's name and identity.
On November 1, Judge Stephen Norrish sentenced the man 10 years' jail from April 2017 with a non-parole period of seven and a half years.
He will be eligible for release in October 2024.
