And facilitating mental health doesn't just happen at home.
On Tuesday, October 29 The Personnel Group held an event for Nowra employers to learn about mental illness in and out of the workplace, featuring a guest speaker from the Black Dog Institute.
The Personnel Group is a not-for-profit organisation that helps people with a disability, injury or a mental health condition to find employment where they will flourish.
CEO Tracey Fraser said the event aimed to build awareness of mental health, and what support is available for local employers.
"Mental health is nearly on par with physical disability when it comes to the types of barriers our job seekers experience," she said.
According to research conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, approximately 1 in 5 Australians aged between 16-85, will experience a mental health related illness, in any given year. That is 20% of all Australians.
