Now aged eight, the young Huskisson Public School student has been selected in the South Coast School Sports Association golf team for 2019.
He will compete in the State Golf Championships at Blackheath on Tuesday, September 3-5 against a field of mostly 12-year-olds, making him one of the youngest students to ever represent South Coast SSA.
He is also the youngest member of the St Georges Basin Junior Pennants golf team.
After outgrowing his plastic clubs, Charlie's parents scored a set of metal clubs from the tip and had them cut down to his size.
At age four he had his first golf lesson with Justin Clarke, the golf pro at Vincentia.
While no-one else in the family plays golf, they live on the golf course and Charlie spent many hours watching the golfers playing from an early age.
Charlie's mum Megan Emery said the talented golfer now trains on average four to five days a week and plays in a competition most weekends.
"Charlie loves golf because he loves being outdoors and strives to do his best with the challenges that golf presents," she said.
With plenty of competitions and training hours ahead of him, Charlie's aiming to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Australian golfer Jason Day.
