Murphy opened the two-day Test match in the women's pairs, alongside Natasha Scott, with the duo going down 22-16 to Wales' Lauren Gowan and Laura Daniels.
But the former Bomaderry High School student bounced back in session two, steering her triples team, featuring Samantha Shannahan and Chloe Stewart to a 23-12 win against Gowan, Gemma Amos and Emma Woodcock.
Murphy couldn't continue her winning ways in session three, when her fours team (Stewart, Shannahan and Kelsey Cotrell) were edged out by Sophie Githins, Hannah Williams, Amos and Woodcock 17-16.
Unfortunately, the 44-year-old couldn't end day one on a high, being defeated by Gowan 21-17 in a women's singles match - seeing Australia trial 20-12 going into day two.

The start of day two didn't change Murphy's fortunes, as her triples team (Shannahan and Stewart) lost 16-12 to Lauren Selway, Williams and Woodcock.
But Murphy returned the winner's circle in session two when her same triples side won 19-18 against Alis Butten, Katie Thomas and Williams.
This victory was a sign of things to come, as Murphy's four team (Shannahan, Stewart and Scott) won two straight matches - 16-12 in session three and 22-9 in session four, to end the competition on a high.
These three straight wins helped Australia win the first Test 34-30 (+109 shots).
The win against Wales follows Test series' against Ireland and Scotland, with Murphy's side now shifting their focus to a match-up with England at Royal Leamington Spa, starting on Saturday, July 20.
