Nowra Youth Centre (The Youthie) was the lucky local recipient with chairperson Nicole Moore saying the money would be used to continue its many youth programs and services and to purchase more resources.

The youth centre, on the corner of Kinghorne and Plunkett streets, Nowra, offers a wide variety of help and services for local youth from individual case work, through to advice and advocacy.

The centre is open Monday through Friday with manager Janet Atkins, staff and a number of hardworking volunteers.

Its popular drop in program for 12-18-year-olds runs each Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 8.30pm.

Nowra Bank manager Nicole Carter said community grants are given out each year.

"This year it coincided with the opening of our new branch," she said.

"It's also NAIDOC Week and we try and support worthwhile endeavours which is exactly what the youth centre is.

"They are also great Westpac customers, having banked with us since their inception 15 years ago."

Westpac has relocated from its long-time home in Junction Street, next to competitors the Commonwealth Bank, to a slightly smaller but more modern premises on the north east corner of Junction and Kinghorne streets.

Westpac state general manager Jo Moxey said the new branch had been designed to provide an enhanced experience and design for both customers and employees.

"It features an open, flexible layout and improved technology to help make banking simpler and faster for our customers, including 24-hour access to business deposits, coin machines and smart ATMs," she said.

"The design meets the changing needs of our customers."

The interior also features a number of stunning photographs of local locations like the Shoalhaven River bridge and Hanging Rock Lookout at the Nowra Showground looking out over the Shoalhaven River.
