Cody Keith Cruickshank, 19, had pleaded guilty on Monday in Nowra Local Court to driving a conveyance without consent, driving while disqualified and carrying a cutting weapon. Magistrate Michael Stoddart granted him conditional bail to undertake the rehabilitation program.
His bail included only being released to staff from Oolong House, a residential drug and alcohol treatment centre in Nowra, and not to use alcohol or any drugs other than those prescribed by a doctor.
On Tuesday, Nowra Local Court was told Cruickshank had gone with Oolong staff to the facility but had absconded before entering the program.
Magistrate Stoddart revoked his bail and issued warrants for his arrest.
His initial charges stem from taking a car from Wondalga Crescent in Nowra on June 17.
He had been captured on high definition CCTV, along with another man, driving the vehicle which stopped at the Mobile Service Station in Bolong Road, Bomaderry and left without paying for $42.19 worth of fuel.
At the time Crucikshak was disqualified from driving, serving a two-year suspension from September 21, 2017.
General duties police from the South Coast District recovered the stolen vehicle at Worrigee Road, Worrigee on June 18, arresting Cruickshank nearby but after being interviewed he was released.
After the footage of him driving the vehicle was uncovered, he was rearrested on June 29 while walking along the Princes Highway at Nowra.
Officers who searched him during his arrest located a small black-handled kitchen knife.
The court heard Cruickshank has an extensive criminal record, with 32 previous charges, with a number of traffic-related matters including police pursuits and driving offences.
He was also on parole at the time of the offences, having only been released in May and still had nine months probation of his sentence to serve on aggravated break and enter charges.
