Perfect weather prevailed for Women's Golf on Thursday for the annual Wendy Phillips Trophy Day. Wendy was feeling a little kinder this year, sponsoring an aggregate competition in place of a multiplier of the previous year. Many thanks Wendy on that count and also for your generous sponsorship of this popular day.
Anne Newton and Sandra Rigney were the outstanding pair of the day scoring an aggregate of 71 points. The competition was hot between 2nd and 3rd places with only one point determining the result. Jill Downie and Betty Tucker came in with 65 points closely followed by Linda Trusler and Jenny Brown who recorded 64 points. Ball rundown went to 58 points.
Patricia Austin put in a stunning performance on the 6th hole by scoring an eagle, the first we have seen in a while. Unfortunately, Patricia didn’t have the satisfaction of actually seeing the ball roll in. She decided to try her number 3 wood from 131 metres out in an attempt to reach the green. The pin placement, however, was in the “dip” and the base of the flag not visible. On approaching the green there was no ball to be found until she looked in the hole. Eureka!! Well done Patricia. Captain Jenny Brown presented her with an Eagle Badge which she will wear with pride.

Today at Callala Christmas was in the air with a good field of keen players looking to take out a Christmas Ham for the number one spot on the podium.
Another great Christmas Gift on offer is the “Golf Exchange” 11th hole which is now at $135 and as Christmas gets closer there is still no player good enough or lucky enough to claim the money. Thanks again to Golf Exchange, South Nowra for their continued support.
Jamie Reardon took the opportunity to ham it up at today’s competition playing a fantastic round of golf to win a ham for the Christmas table. Jamie certainly put it all together to record his 48 Stableford points off a handicap or 24. Congratulations Jamie and I am sure the Christmas handicapper will be most interested in your great result.
Hamless today but still very happy was Graham Lewington who recorded a very good round to take 2nd spot with 39 off 18. Congratulation Graham on a very satisfying round of golf.
Third home was Cody Wehmeyer who also played a great round of golf to record 39 Stableford points off his 9 handicap and, after the count back was applied, was awarded his 3rd place win. Congratulations Cody and looking forward to seeing you playing more often at Callala.
4th today was Ilija Sesum who had no need to ham it up as he won his ham last week being 1st in the raffle. Congratulations Ilija on a great round of golf to secure your spot on the podium.
