Vitello has scored many wins on the bike in the short, fast criterium races but last weekend he was racing in his other chosen sport, inline speed skating.
Each of these sports complements the other is speed, agility and power.
Over the past weekend Richard raced in the NSW Open elite inline speed skating championships with a bundle of medals to bring home as the result.
Richard won gold in the 200m time trial and the 500m sprint and then added silver in the 1000m, 3000m and 5000m events.
Richard’s final medal was a bronze in the 20000 metre massed start event.
In the past Vitiello has won gold medals in National and Oceania skating Championships in Australia and New Zealand.
Vitiello will now continue training and racing on the bike as he prepares for the 2019 National and the Oceania Championships to be held at Nundah in Brisbane in January.
On the previous weekend another Nowra Velo member was racing in the Police and Emergency Games at Mandurah in Western Australia.
Mark Williams raced in mountain bike, road races, criterium and a road individual time trial where he scored an outstanding win taking the gold medal in the open division over a 27km course.
Mark also took out his age group (45/49 years) in that event.
These Police and Emergency Games attracted 3800 competitors across the age groups and disciplines.
Next weekend Vitiello and Williams will return to racing on the bike in the local Nowra Velo Club criteriums on the Albatross Aviation Tech Park circuit.
