The 2018 Burradise Festival was held over the Mother’s Day weekend. Only a few of the festival program events were postponed whilst the majority of activities were moved indoors to provide a warm fun festival haven for locals and tourists to enjoy. Over 25 bands, musicians and performances attracted great crowds with families and kids enjoying the multicultural food fair, arts and culture displays, make and create kid’s activities, recycled fashion parade, CookaBurra Bake Off Competitions, Culburra Beach Surf Bash tournament plus lots more.

“The weather did reduce our attendance this year but over 6000 visitors came along for a great weekend of festival fun.” Alex McNeilly, Chair of the Organising Committee said.
“Going from the feedback we received, everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed our festival saying they will be back in 2019. Delivering an event of this size across three festival hubs over three days is only possible due to the passion and talents of our committee, sub-committees and festival volunteers who really stepped it up to ensure the show must go on. We need to thank all our volunteers who gave their time and smiles to everyone who attended. Great people make wonderful things happen,” he said.
Featured headliners Moussa Diakite and Wassado, Sub-Tribe, Benji and the Saltwater Sound System, Claude Hay, Hat Fitz and Cara attracted sell-out crowds for the Friday and Saturday night live music shows which had the dance floor pumping whilst the day time live music was enjoyed by so many over brunch, lunch and dinner sessions.
“So many generous sponsors helped us to make the festival a great event this year, thank you to Destination NSW, Visit Shoalhaven, Culburra Beach Bowling and Recreation Club, Culburra Pharmacy, Aussie Made Sheds, Cortex, South Coast Tickets and Shoalhaven Design School” he said.
One event that was postponed due to rain was the Culburra Beach Skate Park official opening and Culburra Beach Skate Jam event which is now planned for this Sunday, May 20.
“We plan to officially open our new community built Culburra Beach Skate Park between 11am and 3pm with live music, DJ’s, BBQ plus skateboarding and scooter activities in each age group. We have some great prizes to give away to registered participants. Come along and check out the action at Curley’s Bay Recreational Skate Park on Prince Edward Avenue, Culburra Beach,” he added.
