Retired NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione will be special guest at the Bomaderry Rotary Club fundraising event on Monday, April 30.

The evening is a fundraiser for the Strength and Shine Program, building resilience and suicide prevention for the youth of the Shoalhaven.
Shine is a program for girls that was introduced in Shoalhaven schools and the Strength program is for boys, with the main emphasis to help young people understand their value.
Mr Scipione was NSW Police Commissioner for 10 years from 2007 to 2017, succeeding Ken Moroney and he will be a fascinating speaker.
Tim Kennedy and Rebecca Gallagher representing the Strength and Shine Program will also feature on the evening, describing what the program does.
Mr Scipione joined the Australian Bureau of Customs in 1978 before moving to the NSW Police Force in 1980.
He worked in a number of sections including a secondment to the National Crime Authority of Australia in 1985, with Bankstown detectives, the Special Gaming Squad, Hurstville and Sydney City general duties.
In 1992 he became the Operations Controller of the Joint Technical Services Group (JTSG), in 1995 the Commander of the Special Technical Investigation Branch (STIB), in 1998 the Chief of Staff to then Police Commissioner Peter Ryan, in 2001 the Commander of Special Crime and Internal Affairs.
Scipione was promoted to Deputy Commissioner in 2002 having served as both the Deputy Commissioner Field Operations and Specialist Operations.
He holds a master's degree in Management from Macquarie University and played a crucial role as the head of the NSW Police Force for APEC Australia 2007 leaders week held in Sydney and the World Youth Day 2008 held in Sydney during July 2008.

A number of fantastic items will be auctioned during the evening and a raffle will also be held.
The special event will be held at the Bomaderry Bowling Club on Monday, April 30.
Cost is $45 per person, which includes a two course meal.
