The most informative crime article ever produced since last Friday’s episode, so make the tea, cook the bacon and eggs and sit down before you go wobbly in the legs because here it comes.
Frauds: If you believe that heading down to your local petrol station and filling up before taking off without payment is a perfect crime then think again.
In the Shoalhaven, all fail to pays are strictly monitored by police.
Yes, there are instances when Grandma Mary or Grandpa Simpson may have a moment and these are looked at and dealt with without drama.
Others however turn up with dodgy regos, stolen plates etc that look and act dodgy from the start.
The fact is that due to incredibly clear CCTV and other investigative tools that are employed, offenders within the Shoalhaven are quickly identified and dealt with.
If you are a recidivist offender, the last bloke got one year in jail. The fellow before that got six months in jail.
Heed my words or you may be given free room and board at her Majesty's expense.
Operation Tortoise: It’s going to be an exciting weekend, especially on Saturday because the Easter Bunny is coming.
Just two more sleeps to go.
However, you have no more sleeps to go for Operation Tortoise.
“What’s That?”
I hear you say. Operation Tortoise is a Statewide Traffic Enforcement operation starting on Thursday, March 29 and going through to Monday night, April 2.
Police will be focusing on excessive or inappropriate speeds, alcohol and drug driving, fatigue, not wearing restraints or helmets and of course distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
You have been warned, now so slow down, take your time and have a good Easter.
Easter Weekend: If you are out and about this weekend at our local pubs, clubs and or restaurants, please keep in mind that if you play up due to intoxication through alcohol or drugs you should look forward to either a $550 fines or a court attendance notice.
Shoalhaven Police officers will not tolerate anti-social behavior in our licensed premises or on our streets. Drink responsibly and have a good weekend.
At the Beach: Please remember, if you go to the beach this weekend don’t leave your wallet and or other valuables unattended hidden under the towel or in your unattended beach bag.
As I have said before, your wallet can’t swim so it doesn’t really need to be there.
Lock your car in the carpark and hide your valuables within or maybe leave them at home.
Don’t create an opportunity for a crook to prosper.
As always, in case of an emergency call 000. In non-emergencies call the Policelink on 131 444 or your local police station. To provide anonymous information call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
