Jade Lee Bridge, 18, of Bomaderry, who as a learner driver should have a zero blood alcohol limit, pleaded guilty to high range drink driving and being an unaccompanied learner driver in Nowra Local Court on Monday.
Court papers said Bridge was arrested by Nowra police on March 2 at about 10.45pm after her vehicle, a red Nissan Patrol, was seen stationary on the footpath near the corner of Kinghorne and Worrigee streets in the Nowra CBD and then almost ran into a the police vehicle.
Police said it appeared the vehicle had lost control on the wet roadway before they arrived.
The vehicle mounted the gutter near the Shell petrol station and as officers pulled up they had to reverse to avoid a collision with the vehicle as it rolled backwards towards the police car.
The car then accelerated harshly, past the petrol bowsers before stopping.
Police said Bridge smelt strongly of alcohol, had slow speech and her eyes were bloodshot.
Asked for her licence she produced a learner’s permit.
She told officers she had consumed two vodka and lemonade drinks and one and a half beers at home and was on her way to a local hotel.
She will be sentenced on April 30.
