The 37-year-old man, who cannot be named as it would identify his young victims, also pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching an apprehended violence order.
Court papers said the assaults happened in the early hours on December 3 last year at Sanctuary Point after celebrating one of the boy’s birthdays.
Police said the party had started at 2pm the previous day and the man and woman were both affected by alcohol when an argument broke out about 2am as the man attempted to take the boys from the home.
Court papers said the woman slapped the man in the face as he tried to take one of the boys from a bed. The man grabbed the woman by the throat and pushed her into a doorway.
She suffered an abrasion and lump to her head.
A 12-year-old boy, who came to his mother’s aid, was pushed into a wall, while a nine-year-old boy was also grabbed during the incident.
Papers said the woman was also pushed down a flight of stairs at one stage.
Magistrate Gabriel Fleming said there was no alternative to jail, sentencing the man to 18 months, with a non non-parole for six months.
