The morning tea was hosted by Berry personality Christine Dunstan, who told jokes to bring out the lighter side of ageing.
“There are a few positives of ageing,” Mrs Dunstan said.
“Kidnappers have lost interest and the supply of brain cells are finally down to a manageable size.”
Attendees heard about a successful program, where older people are learning technological skills from school kids at Shoalhaven Libraries.
“Young and old people actually get on really well, it’s just their parents they don’t like,” she said.
Sonia Reuter and Sue Gregan were pleased to attend the free event.
“We enjoyed the morning, it’s lovely they put this on for people in the Shoalhaven,” Sue said.
“It feels like council is giving back to us.”
There are luncheons, morning teas, and BBQs planned, a waste and water treatment plant tour, a support program for grandparents raising grandchildren, technology help sessions, a petting farm and more on offer for seniors in the Shoalhaven during festival dates from April 4-15.
