Scott Crisafi, Wade Phillips-Hands, Sam Wright-Smith, Iszi Crawford and Yasmin Phelan were part of the Southern Stingrays which contested the three-day challenge.
The quintet all play in the Illawarra South Coast Junior Competition, Phillips-Hands and Wright-Smith at Wests, Crawford and Phelan at University and Crisafi at Fairy Meadow in the under 15s.
They all back up and play in the under 18s midweek competition as well, where Phelan also plays for Shoalhaven.
The challenge was the culmination of months of training and development as part of the Centre Of Development program which are conducted across the state.
More than 900 children from all across the state took part in the competition at the Macarthur Regional Complex.
Hosted by Hockey NSW, who partnered with Camden Council, the event was a great success.
Each region had a number of teams compete in the under 13 and 15 boys and girls divisions, with teams playing 20 minute games, eight-aside across the field - 800 games played across the three days of competition.
And the news got better for Crisafi and Wright-Smith earlier in the week when they were named in the NSW under 15s team.
Gerringong’s Mackenzie Ford was also named in the NSW girls’ team.
They will contest the national championships at the Illawarra Hockey Stadium at Unanderra from April 18-27.
In other hockey news, Gerringong’s Claire Smallhorn is currently in Launceston, Tasmania contesting the under 18 national championships with the NSW team and Gerringong player Neive Campbell is a member of the Blues’ side.
