Group members, early this week, arrived at their Bridge Street Nowra facility ready for another busy day helping and supporting people.
However, almost straight away they sensed that something was not right.
Treasurer Jenni Hassett thought it was strange that all some cupboard doors were left wide open and then she looked around.
Someone had broken into the building, by smashing a window near the kitchen, and then proceeded to trash the place.
Every draw was opened the contents thrown all over the place.
The office was also broken into and ransacked.
Mrs Hassett and association president Cheryl Wright both believe whoever broke into the building was looking for cash.
They don’t think anything of value was taken.
“It upset us that seniors would be targeted in this way,” Mrs Wright said.
She said the association was about giving seniors somewhere to have a chat, a chance to enjoy a light meal and do a bit of socialising.
If people want to support the association they can call 0420 842 488.
Police attended the scene and gathered evidence.
Anyone with information on the theft should call Nowra Police on 4421 9699 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
