Residents were all smiles, singing old time songs, bobbing along, and some, up dancing with nursing staff.
The band is comprised of a group of people aged 60 and up, and one 40 year old, who picked up their first ever instruments only about six months ago.
“Now we perform in places like the retirement village to bring a little bit of fun to what can be a bit of a dire place,” Basin Bowlers Big Time Band member Ben Krikstolaitis said.
Most of them play a ukulele, and they’re fairly confident with the instrument – you wouldn’t know they’ve only been learning for six months.
There is also a harmonica and bongos in the mix.
