Nowra recorded 41mm to 9am Sunday and 52mm until 9am Monday.
Although rain eased throughout Monday afternoon and night, another 4mm was recorded up until 9am Tuesday.
It takes Nowra’s February total to 124.4mm still down on the average rainfall of 132.8mm and well down on the wettest February ever in 2007, when 287.4mm was recorded.
So far this year the Nowra area has recorded 193.6mm of rain, just shy of the average for the same period of 206.1mm.
Prior to this latest rain, Nowra had struggled with the lack of rain, with just 76.6mm, some 130mm down on average and just 27.4mm for February.
The rain led to the CareFlight Choppers for Charity street parade and markets at Sussex Inlet on Sunday being cancelled, while Shoalhaven City Turf Club’s scheduled TAB meeting for the Archer Raceway on Tuesday was also called off due to a wet track.
Out on the floodplain, east of Nowra, local farmers certainly welcomed good falls.
The recorded rainfall around the region varied greatly, some areas receiving a lot more rain and some a lot less.
Kiama recorded 64mm for the same period, out on the coast and Point Perpendicular 80mm, while down south, Ulladulla had 126mm.
And the good news for Nowra is there might be more follow up rain next weekend, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting a 90 per cent chance on both Sunday and Monday of 1-5mm of rain.
But prior to that the temperature is set to rise again with 31 degrees predicted for Wednesday and 28 degrees for Saturday and Sunday.
