Police attended a home on St Anns Street about 12.30pm Friday (February 23) where they found the body of a 63-year-old man.
The man’s death is being treated as suspicious.
Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene, which continues to be forensically examined.
Local detectives are being assisted by officers from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
A number of officers, detectives, general duties and scientific officers have been at the scene most of the afternoon, with officers questioning surrounding neighbours.
Just before 7.30pm police have instructed the media to relocate from the area as all of View Street was going to be included in the crime scene.
Strike Force Maximus has been established to investigate his death.
Neighbours report hearing screaming coming from near the property about midnight Thursday, while another resident told the South Coast Register a man was seen and heard walking down an adjacent street to the property (View Street) around the same time yelling.
As the investigation continues police are urging anyone with information, or who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area prior to the man’s body being discovered, to come forward.

7pm: Police scour unit in Nowra, canvassing neighbours
Shoalhaven Police have remained tight lipped about an operation which has been going on in Nowra since midday.
The operation has been underway in and around St Ann Street, Nowra but has been centred on a town house which is part of a unit complex.
Although police won’t confirm anything it is believed they are investigating the death of a man.
A crime scene has been established since early afternoon with at least a dozen police scouring the area around a block of units on the western side of the Princes Highway.
Detectives, general duties and scientific officers have been at the scene, with officers questioning surrounding neighbours.
Police tape has been rolled out around the home and across the street.
