Just before 11am on Sunday, February 18, police will allege the officer, attached to the Southern Region, failed a random breath test on the Barton Highway, Murrumbateman, about 25km south of Yass.
He was arrested and taken to Yass Police Station, where a breath-analysis allegedly returned a reading of 0.052.
The inspector was issued a field court attendance notice for the offence of low range drive driving and is due to appear at Yass Local Court on Friday, April 13.
