It seems that they are mysteriously unlocking themselves to allow ready access for the crooks to take your valuables.
It’s an astounding phenomenon.
Are cars getting a mind of their own?
Are they developing self-awareness?
Are we heading for the same problems that the world had when Skynet took over in the Terminator movies?
Probably not.
Talking about movies I would like to mention, “Ground Hog Day”.
Remember the movie starring Bill Murray.
His day is the same every day and goes on and on. Guess what, it’s happening to me.
Every morning the alarm goes off, I wake up, I get up, brush my teeth and go to work.
I look at the crime report and without fail someone has left their car door unlocked and something has been stolen.
I’ve been giving the same message nearly every day for the last five years, “Take your valuables out of your car when it’s not in use and lock it”.
There, I said it again.
Due to wallets being stolen from vehicles recently our payWave frauds are moving up.
These types of frauds are easily prevented by better card security.
These preventable offences are being investigated, using up time and resources that would be better spent in other areas.
I would think the total inconvenience of replacing your cards and licenses and would be a deterrent.
The solution is “Take you valuables out of your car when it’s not in use and lock it”.
There, I said it again!
Don’t forget to make sure bikes and other valuable toys and tools are not left out the front of your house or on the verandah where the crooks can just wander up and ride away or steal your property.
Remember, crime prevention is all about reducing the opportunities for crime.
This can be achieved with a bit of vigilance and common sense.
