“If that’s the case it will be after the next state and federal elections,” Mrs Phillips said.
In a scathing attack on Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis, Mrs Phillips questioned if the Liberal federal government was stalling.
“I can’t believe that. It seems to me they are stalling.”
Mrs Phillips cited a post on Mrs Sudmalis’ website stating “planning of the new bridge is expected to be fully complete by late 2019.”
“Is it being pushed out until the end of 2019?”
“That will be after both state and federal elections.
“And there is no funding guaranteed by the federal government for its construction.
“Labor has committed $50 million towards the bridge in conjunction with the state government.
“Ann Sudmalis and Malcolm Turnbull have committed zero money for the construction of the new Nowra Bridge, not one cent.
“At the moment the Liberals have committed nothing.”
She also questioned the lack of costings for the proposed new crossing.
“Where are the costings?”
“I was under the presumption the report release would have the costings.
“They seem to be stalling basically. They need to stop stalling and build the bridge.
“How long do South Coast commuters have to wait for the new Nowra Bridge?
“But I don’t see it coming any time soon.”
