His vision will be discussed at Shoalhaven Council’s upcoming strategy and assets committee meeting next week.
“As you know I've been pushing for a district library at Sanctuary Point,” Cr Proudfoot said.
“This would leave us with a spare library - a building that can be transported.
“What i'm looking for is community land that may be satisfactory in Sussex Inlet.”
This community land would be already owned by and under the care and control of council, minimising the cost of the project.
“There are kids out at Sussex Inlet that certainly would use it,” Cr Proudfoot said.
“It wouldn’t cost much at all.”
The new district library, and revamped library at Sussex Inlet will cost council less than half of the cost of building a library in the Bay and Basin community precinct, according to Cr Proudfoot.
“I’m calling on all councillors to support it,” he said.
Currently there is a mobile library that visits Sussex Inlet.
