Chemist Outlet staff were fired on Tuesday, and then re-hired on Thursday when the news came through on the sale.
The initial news came as a shock to both staff and customers of Junction Street and Nowra Lane stores.
Long-term customers scrambled to return to stores to print out account records, so they would be entitled to low cost medication once they reached the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme threshold.
Job security remains shaky for employees, who have been told stores will remain open for at least six weeks until April.
