Nowra High School has launched its Best Practice Program, aiming for high expectations for its students, as well as unveiling a new school mascot.

The Best Practice Program, launched on Friday, revealed the high expectations of the students and how the school would support them in achieving through their behaviour, choices, academic and other work.
The program will acknowledge students’ success through levels of formal recognition.
As part of the launch the school’s new mascot, Nazza the black cockatoo, also made its first appearance.
The Royal Australian Navy showed its support on the day with a MRH90 helicopter from 808 Squadron at HMAS Albatross dropping into the school for the morning, while a number of government and charitable agencies joined the school community for the launch.
Other agencies offering their support and represented included Shoalhaven Health, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Police, PCYC, the Red Cross, Crossroads senior student life education program, Headspace, 94.9 PowerFM, South Coast Medical Service, Sam’E’spresso, along with all the school’s faculties holding various games and activities.
The day began with a barbecue for students and parents at 7am, followed by the helicopter and Nazza’s arrival.
