Kevin Alan Davis, 33, was convicted of impersonating a police officer, damaging property, intimidation and offensive conduct in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday.
Davis attended the court but did not actually appear before Magistrate Gabriel Fleming over the matters.
Court papers said Davis attended Centrelink at Stockland Shellharbour at 4.20pm on January 17 and spoke to the office manager, who told him he was banned from the Shellharbour branch.
Davis allegedly started rambling, saying, “I’m a detective and someone had taken my money.”
He was ushered out of the building by a security guard but continued to loiter at the front of the service.
Court papers said the front doors of the service were locked and Davis ran towards a side glass door, which shattered on impact.
He left the location and a short time later attempted to withdraw money over the counter at the IMB.
After a staff member informed Davis there was no money in the account and it had in fact been deactivated, he became aggressive, yelling he “hadn't eaten in six days” was “starving”, “needed cigarettes and “needed f...ing money”.
When asked to leave, he told staff he “was a detective” and would “come with the police to sort this s..t out.”
He then proceeded to push a cheque machine off the counter, with staff members activating duress alarms.
Davis was arrested by police a short distance away and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged.
