Avocado prices have climbed to $4 a pop in local supermarkets.
A Nowra sushi shop has started to charge extra for their avocado sushi rolls, adding an extra 50 cents to medium rolls and dollar to large rolls, and it’s only a matter of time before others follow suit.
Bomaderry local Adam Straney has an avocado tree in his garden.
The tree produces an abundance of avocados.
Last season, which started in September, he produced more than 250 pieces of fruit.
“You get sick and tired of picking them to be honest,” he said.
On the rare occasion his immediate family can’t get through them, he gives them to his brother in law, who’s a chef at Cambewarra Estate.
