Known for her fame as an author, motivational speaker and 2009 NSW Woman of the Year, Ms Keonig is set to deliver an Australia Day address at the 2018 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony on Wednesday, 24 January.
Shoalhaven City Council mayor Amanda Findley welcomed Ms Koenig.
“Mrs Keonig is a remarkable Australian and we are so happy to have her visit the Shoalhaven for this annual ceremony,” she said.
“Throughout her career Mrs Keonig has campaigned tirelessly to the cause of brain injury awareness by writing books and volunteering to improve brain injury services throughout Australia.
Her book “Paper Cranes: A Mother’s Story of Hope, Courage and Determination” accounts her inspirational journey with her son Jonathan who suffered an extremely traumatic brain injury as a young teenager.
The ceremony will also officially recognise 16 Shoalhaven residents choosing to become Australian citizens.
The Shoalhaven City Council 2018 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will begin at 5.30pm at Ulladulla Civic Centre.
