In his first full pre-season with the Raiders top grade squad, the 20-year-old is embracing the chance to learn each and every day of his more experience teammates.
“The first full pre-season with the first grade squad has been good – it’s awesome being up here competing and learning from the big boys,” Murchie told the raiders.com.au
“In particular, I’ve learnt a lot from Josh Papali and Elliot Whitehead – it’s been an awesome experience.”
Murchie, a second-rower, is hoping to build on a strong 2017 season, where he represented both the Australian and New South Wales under 20s sides.
“Stepping up to that next level and playing against the top players my age was great and something I will cherish forever,” he said.
“I made sure I took in as much as I could in those camps, which should bode well for me in the future.”
Murchie, who idolised Beau Scott and Luke Lewis growing up, has high hopes for his 2018 season on the field.
“This year I’d most importantly like to keep improving as a player,” he said.
“Obviously the main goal is cracking first grade and making my debut, but for now, I just want to keep learning as much as I can off the older boys and keep moving forward.”
