Playing for the University of NSW Cricket Club, Gilkes scored 127 runs from 230 deliveries against Manly-Warringah at Manly Oval.
The former Ulladulla High School student scored nine boundaries and one six in his innings, is his team’s first innings total of 191 from 71.2 overs.
This total was not enough to chase down Manly’s first innings target of 7/322 declared, on day one of their match.
During the match, as wicket-keeper, Gilkes also grabbed three catchings and made one stumping.
So far this season, Gilkes, 18, has played in 13 matches for the Bumblebees, scoring 462 at an average of 38.5.
During that time, he has also taken 18 total catches, made two assisted run-outs and affected two stumpings.
Gilkes and UNSW next play Campbelltown-Camden at Alan Davidson Oval.
