Matthew James McKibbin, 19, pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving and also faced a charge of being a novice driver with novice PCA offence.
Court papers said McKibben was caught by police on Peppermint Drive, Worrigee between 11.43pm on October 21 and 12.14am on October 23 last year. He returned a breath reading more than three times the limit.
Officers initially stopped his white Subaru because the rear tail lights were not working and discovered five other people in the vehicle.
A breath test revealed a positive result and at the Nowra Police Station he recorded a reading of 0.164.
He told police he had consumed six to seven 375ml Corona beers at the Husky Pub and then had gone to a party at Worrigee. He was on his way home to St Georges Basin when stopped.
On September 29 last year he had also been charged with a drink drive offence after being caught around 11.35pm on Loralyn Avenue, St Georges Basin.
At the time he recorded a reading of 0.017 while still on his provisional P2 licence (Green Ps), when he should have had a zero reading.
He had three other people in the car at the time and allegedly told police he had consumed two beers between 10 and 11pm.
In Nowra Local Court Magistrate Gabriel Fleming fined McKibbin $1700, disqualified him from driving for seven months and ordered he have an interlock device fitted to his vehicle for two years. She also placed him on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
