Penrith may have reached a record temperature of 47.5 on Sunday, but Nowra wasn’t far behind, with the mercury hitting 43.

Like a lot of parts of NSW the Shoalhaven sweltered.
By 9am Nowra had already hit 36 degrees and the mercury kept rising, passing 40 degrees by 10.30am.
Nowra reached its high just after noon, with temperatures dropping back under 40 by 12.20pm, however stayed in the high to mid 30s until 2pm, when temperatures dipped back into the high 20s.
The temperature continued to stay high until 11.30pm when it dropped to under 20 degrees.
Despite the high temperature it’s still not a record for Nowra. On January 18, 2013 the area recorded 45.4 degrees.
For Monday Nowra is set to hit a high of 33 degrees, with a medium chance of showers and the chance of a thunderstorm later in the afternoon.
At 10.30am the humidity was sitting at 70 per cent.
As for the rest of the week, Nowra is expecting 30 degrees on Tuesday, 25 on Wednesday, 27 Thursday, before topping the 30 degree mark again on Friday with 31.
However, there is the possibility of a showers on Friday which might continue over the weekend, with temperatures expected to hit 26 degrees.
There is a 70 per cent chance of 5-10mm of rain on Saturday and a 60 per cent chance of 1-5mm on Sunday.
Out on the coast, Point Perpendicular hit a high of 35 on Sunday.
By 10am the temperature was 34 before reaching 35 at 11am but dipped back under 30 at 1pm.
It was also a way off its record January temperature of 42.1 on January 1, 2006.
Kiama wasn’t as hot, hitting a high of 33 on Sunday.
The temperature was 30 at 1.30pm and reached its high at 2.30pm before again dipping back into the high to mid 20s until 7pm.
This was well short of its record January temperature, of 45 on January 18, 2013.
Kiama is heading for 30 degrees Monday, 28 on Tuesday, 23 Wednesday, 24 Thursday, 27 Friday, 26 Saturday and 23 Sunday.
Although not reaching the highs of its nearby neighbours, Ulladulla still recorded a warm 32 degrees on Sunday.
It was also well down on its January record high of 44.5 degrees on January 18, 2013.
For Monday Ulladulla is heading for a high of 28 and was already 26 degrees by 10.30am.
However the humidity was sitting at a stifling 89 per cent and a late thunderstorm is predicted.
Thunderstorms are scheduled for Tuesday with an 80 per cent chance of 1-5mm of rain, with 26 the high temperature. Wednesday and Thursday are fine with temperatures of 23 and 24, Friday will be windy with 26, while there is the chance of a possible thunderstorm on Saturday and 25 and possible showers and 21 for Sunday.
