The Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens fast bowler, who has 26 wickets this season, has been named in the squad which will battle the Kenyan under 19s national team on January 2, ahead of the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.
“I was really excited when I read the email about the match,” Jones said,
“We will have the same squad that played in Orange, which could be really beneficial for us.
“Even though it isn't a Twenty20, I think we have a really solid team with a good mix of spin and pace bowlers, as well as batsmen.”
Jones, 20, and his team will play a 50-over match against the Kenyan outfit at Punchbowl Oval, after first watching the Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes Big Bash clash on January 1 at Spotless Stadium.
“I'm not too sure what to expect heading in the the game – all I can hope for is a good match against a solid side and just to have a bit of fun,” Jones said.
“I’m excited to test myself against an international opponent.
“It will be interesting to see if I've finally found my form and can claim a few wickets.”
