All up the school received 10 Band 6s, among a host of other good results.

Leading the charge was Brodie Nielsen, who achieved three Band 6s in Geography, Modern History and PDHPE.

The Cambewarra student was “surprised” by his results.

“They are a bit up on what I expected,” he said “it was a nice surprise.

“My subjects weren’t too hard or too bad. But it is great to get the results.”

He is now eagerly awaiting his ATAR score on Friday, hoping to gain the marks to study Exercise Science and Rehabilitation at Wollongong University.

“I need 93 to get into that course,” he said “so here’s hoping that comes through tomorrow.”

Piper Sparkes and Jessica Conley were not far behind, each posting two Band 6 results.

Jessica also secured a Band 6 in Geography and in E4 in extension one English, which also equates to a Band 6.

“My results were better than I hoped,” she said.

She was excited to receive the text with her results.

“I was very surprised,” she said.

She hopes to attend the Australian National University in Canberra studying “something in Science.”

“I’m not sure exactly what yet,” she said but to achieve her goal she will have to achieve an ATAR of more than 90.

Piper, of Nowra Hill, scored Band 6s in PDHPE and English.

“These results are definitely better than expected,” she said.

She has already gained early entry to Wollongong University Shoalhaven Campus to study Nursing.

“Nursing is something I’ve always been interested in,” she said.

She said the secret to success was simply “lots of study and lots of work.”

Serena O'Reilly gained a Band 6 in English, which she hopes will lead to a double degree at Wollongong University in Criminology and Business.

“I’m happy with my results,” she said.

“I’m hoping to keep my options open, studying two subjects.”

Jade Flint also gained a Band 6 in Modern History.

She is now hoping to study Psychology at Wollongong University.

“My major work in Drama was exploring the brain and we had to do a lot of research into the brain and how it works,” she said.

“I found that really interesting and that has led me to Psychology.”

Lauren Hunter, who is currently in the United States, also gained a Band 6 for Food Technology.

Principal Ian Morris, who only arrived at Bomaderry High at the start of the year, said the results were “exciting.”

“I’m very proud of the students and the teachers and all the hard work they have put in,” he said.

“These have been very exciting results and across the board the school has done extremely well.

“We’ve had a lot of students come into the school today [Thursday] to talk to teachers and thank them for their help which has been great.

“These results are great for the local school community and credit to the hardworking staff and kids. I feel fortunate to lead the school.”
