Gregory Elliott, 37, of Revesby Heights, Sydney, appeared in Central Local Court in Sydney on Thursday, facing eight charges.

Elliott is charged with armed robbery, two counts of being carried in conveyance, two counts of aggravated assault with intent to take motor vehicle, destroying property in company by fire, police pursuit and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

He did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.

He will reappear in court on February 8.

Elliott was arrested in Nowra in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a home invasion and another attempted car jacking.

It was alleged he was part of a group that held up a jewellery store in Huskisson around 5pm Tuesday, December 12 and was involved in a number of carjackings and pursuits which eventually ended in Nowra on Wednesday morning.

Elliott was arrested around 2am after a home invasion in Morton Parade Nowra.

He was arrested as he allegedly tried to force an occupant of the property to drive him to another location in a car.

The drama unfolded just before 5pm on Tuesday after an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Owen Street, Huskisson.

Officers were told three men armed with a firearm assaulted the store owner and stole cash and jewellery before escaping in a stolen car, which was found nearby a short time later.

It is alleged the men carjacked two cars, with a 43-year-old woman injured during one of the incidents when she was run over.

Extensive patrols located the men on Jervis Bay Road, with a pursuit initiated but terminated due to the manner of driving.

Police spotted the vehicle a short time later, following it down a bush track at Tomerong, where the offenders allegedly dumped the car, with one producing a firearm and confronting police before fleeing into bushland.

A major search of the surrounding area started. It involved local police, the State Protection Support Unit, Tactical Operations Unit, Dog Unit, Police Rescue and other resources

About 12.45am Wednesday, December 13, police spotted and tried to stop a vehicle, pursuing it to Nowra where the men dumped the car and again fled on foot.

Police say the search continues for the two other men allegedly involved in the incident.

They are described as being in their early to mid 20s,  as having dark complexions, around 175 to 182cm tall, of slim to medium build.

Police have warned the public not to approach the men  as they could still be armed.
