A majority of South Coast Register voters (just over 60 per cent) said council made the wrong decision.
At the next ordinary meeting on Tuesday, the matter will be raised again.
Shoalhaven Crs Greg Watson, Mark Kitchener, Mitchell Pakes and Bob Proudfoot will be hoping some of their colleagues have a change in heart.
Cr Watson took aim at ward one councillors Annette Alldrick and Nina Cheyne who voted against providing the funds to the Heads community.
“It blows me away we have ward one councillors undermining their community,” he said.
“They’re politically inept, they’re not representing their community effectively in council.”
The Heads community was willing to contribute towards the event – they had raised more than $5000 for the fireworks.
“We spend nearly two million dollars a year promoting tourism, and when most of the tourists are down here, we need to provide entertainment,” Cr Watson said.
“This is something we should embrace with open arms.”
