The most popular win of the day was that of the Paul Murray trained Sacred Son, taking out the Nowra Truck and Tractor Class 2 Handicap to screams of joy, in what was a tight finish between the Shoalhaven City Turf Club part owned horse and Mr Tickets, who found the lead early, before Sacred Son launched a late plunge over the line under the urging of rider Brendan Ward.
In what was a day of close finishes, Grand Theft Auto narrowly beat Citizen’s Arrest ridden by Kathy O’Hara in the Culburra Bowling Club Fillies and Mares Maiden, but the drive south was not wasted for O’Hara who teamed up with Goulburn trainer Sarah Murray-Leslie to take out the Shoalhaven Diesel Tech Class 1 Handicap on Stone Cold.
In another all female affair, jockey Melinda Kinny combined with trainer Natalie Jarvis to win the Marriot Oliver Solicitors Benchmark 55 Handicap with Tides Of Fortune.
